A Christmas Catnip Mouse (Featuring a low-quality photo of it being used) 🐈 🐁 🎅

I LOVEDDDD this project!!

After the success I had with the snails, I decided I wanted to attempt another knitted creature creation.

I went Handmade for a lot of my gifts last year, and I wasn't going to let my cat miss out on a little gift. This little gem was an idea I had for a Christmas present for her - a knitted Catnip Mouse!! It was the perfect excuse to make another knitted creature!

She loves catnip toys, and every year I get her a handmade catnip gift from one of many online small businesses, but I wanted to make my own this year.

I wanted to have a Christmas theme to the gift, so I decided on the red and white colour pattern.

I found the pattern for a knitted mouse online, and amended the design to have a double-coloured mouse, allowing me to add the Christmas theme.

I started knitting the mouse from the nose down to the bottom. After the mouse was knitted, the ears were knitted, ready for construction.

Then I threaded the tail through the end and started sewing the mouse up. I stuffed the mouse as I went, and when I was about half way through, I added the catnip pouch. I made this by pouring catnip into an (empty) teabag and sewed it up. I ensured the stuffing completely surrounded the catnip pouch. I attached the ears and then continued sewing the mouse up.

The last thing to do was to sew the eyes and nose.

It was a lot of fun to make (however the eyes and nose really stressed me out, so I had an idea on how to fix that when I do it again). I decided I definitely need to make some more of these (and I have done since then, I'll share those soon!)

But how adorable is this!! And my cat absolutely LOVED IT! She went absolutely CRAZY!! (photo 3) And even now, three months later, she still attacks it!

I'm thinking of creating these to sell this Christmas!
