How adorable are these?!
After the Christmas Catnip mouse I created (shared here a few weeks back), I decided I wanted to make more, but I had no real plans to make anymore: only a knowledge that at some point I wanted to.
One day I was sorting through my craft cupboard and found this rainbow wool I had, and I knew that I wanted to use it to create the mice.
I followed the pattern I used for the Christmas mouse, but this time I kept knitting straight rather than changing colour to make the stripes.
Once the mouse was completed, I knitted the ears, attached them and sewed the eyes onto the mouse, and then I sewed and stuffed the mouse. Adding the eyes before constructing the mice was sooooo much easier!!!
As I wasn't sure whether I was going to give these to my cat or sell them, and therefore when they'd be "used", I decided not to put any catnip in them, as it would be a waste of catnip as the smell would wear off. This did make it easier to sew it up, I won't lie!
They came out slightly different than I thought (the colour changing in the wool is a lot longer than I realised, as I thought they'd make a full rainbow in the mouse, however I still like the way they look. But because of this, I had to make a pair so that it would make a full rainbow.
It was again a lot of fun to make these, and I will get some new wool and make some more. I made 3 different pieces out of this wool so I ran out. This time I'll see if I can get some wool where the colour changes are closer so I can make a full rainbow in the mouse to see if I can compare them.
